NEW MUSIC THIS WEEKEND ON BANDCAMP!
My name is Brian Kenney Fresno,
and I have this super fun solo ROCK show
where I sing modern TALES of urban legends and
epics of the absurd-
in a sing-along format-
mostly about Fresno Ca, my home town,
and every time I say "Fresno",
everybody eats the raisins and says "WHOOO!" in a group experience.
It's really fun! Everybody laughs a lot and has a communal endorphin rush! And - I play a big giant magic super guitar that is bass and guitar at the same time, and drum pedals with my feet, but it's easy for me- so it's fun for you!
I've done 5 national, and countless West coast tours since 1999. The show goes well with just about anything - I've played the upstairs stage at the Fillmore in San
Francisco for: They Might Be Giants, Judas Priest, Bela Fleck, Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Los Lobos, King Crimson, David Byrne, Keller Williams, Willie Nelson, Joe Satriani, Yonder Mountain String Band, Fantomas, Hella, Ozomatli, Calexico, Zak Wylde, Richard Thompson, Bob Weir's Ratdog - 3 New Years Eve’s with Les Claypool bands and more. I open for punk and hip-hop shows, folksters, indie hipsters, comedians, dance and metal bands.
I've opened for Charlie Hunter, Billy Cobham, Tim Leary and Eddie Money. Hah. I received a standing ovation when I opened for Project Object ( featuring Ike Willis and the music of Frank Zappa). I've performed personally for Graham Nash, Todd Rundgren, Michael Hedges, and many of the above.
I was awarded a fellowship grant from the Fresno Arts Council for performance and composition, and was the first musician Artist-In-Residence at the Fresno Art Museum.
I have appeared on The Discovery Channel, "Good Morning America", "DoctorDemento", and have periodically performed with my video brother / drummer Ryan Kenney Poughkeepsie, live over the internet- since 2001.
I have given two concerts at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, and was made part of their Visiting Faculty Program. I was sponsored by Applied Research and Technology, and given my Super Fancy Guitar by Mark Warr. I have turned down several auditions for Cirque Du Soleil, and was selected by Fresno Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Fresnans in 150 years. Go figure.
In 09, I concluded a nightclub residency with a 12 hour marathon performance.
I’ve performed uninvited outside the theater of an Yngwie Malmsteen concert.
I played After Jay Rheatard in Houston.
I’ve played countless shows with MoeTar, including a So-Cal Progfest, and Prog-By-Prog-West, which we co-founded for fun one time.
I recorded a StoryCorp presentation for NPR.
I’ve played many shows with Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, toured with Mirthkon. I recently performed a medley of 104 of my songs in 40 minutes, played a remote live broadcast concert for Free Speech Radio KFCF, opened for The Stinkfoot Orchestra, and am booked to play The Outbound Summit New Music Festival this summer (2026).
I have released 13 self produced CD’s. multiple live DVD’s, and a full length movie/video version of “The Future Is Fresno” on USB drive and DVD.
I’ve been the CEO of the dysfunctional label, Bonghit Records since 1997.
